A little bit of background on Doggy Day Tours team.
If your going to consider handing the responsibility of your pet over to us we feel that its important for you to know a thing or two about who we are.
‘As a child I grew up amongst a menagerie of animals and I have owned and kept everything from goldfish to dogs since. I have successfully kept coldwater to tropical marine fish as well as rabbits, guinea pigs, gerbils, cats, dogs and even snakes. I have always worked with animals but in different contexts, let me explain!
For over 20 years I worked as a butcher for Macken Brothers of Chiswick and Selfridges serving some of London’s top restaurants such as Marco Pierre White, Clarkes, Arbutus and Wild Honey to name but a few.
Five years ago I decided to change my career path and completed a degree in Education with a view to becoming a teacher at primary level but after my studies I knew that my passion was always for animals and the outdoors so I decided to set up Doggy Day Tours.‘
Leigh’s right hand guy is Flint, his beloved Weimaraner. Flint accompanies the gang on all the walks and is a very sociable creature that mixes well with all dogs. Thomas the Bengal cat – hmmm Thomas mainly rules the roost at the Doggy Day Tours HQ! Justine Ramsey – The official Doggy Day Tours secretary and helper, Justine is Leigh’s partner.
How we do what we do?
Okay, the important but boring stuff! We have full public liability insurance and are CRB checked. We will always show this information to you at out first meeting. We believe giving you piece of mind is the vital first step in trusting us to deliver a professional service to you.
If you would like your dog walked either on an ad hoc basis or something more permanent we keep a key to your house so we can pick your dog up. Your security is of paramount importance to us so each key carries no identifiable information on the key ring. The only thing that appears is you dogs name and our phone number. Your address is stored on our password protected Mac and your keys are stored in a locked safe when not in use.
We like to get to know both you and your dog so we offer a first walk/consultation free of charge and without obligation. Doing this puts both you and your dogs mind at rest. Generally we like to see how your dog interacts with other dogs in what is too all-intense and purposes a pack situation. You are of course free to join us on this walk if you wish and the initial consultation can be conducted at either your house or out on a walk.
All that we ask of your dog is that it is well socialised and has good recall. We assess your dog on its temperament and not on its breed. When your dog is out with us it will wear one of our own I.D. tags providing you with additional piece of mind. We also prefer that your dog is neutered but will do our best to integrate him into the walk provided that he shows no signs of male dominance.
We take your pets safety as another of our paramount concerns and that is reflected in the way we transport from home to walk or any other destination. Each dog has its own cage, bed and water bowl. These cages were a bespoke design for us and also have emergency exits. Your dog will feel less stressed in its own space and therefore enjoy its exercise that much more.
